MUSEUMS

Maryland's long, rich past is accessible through the State's many museums. Some specialize in art, history, and culture or focus on the Chesapeake Bay, a dominant feature of Maryland life and landscape. Others highlight industry, technology, or science.

Besides its traditional museums, the State has museums with living-history and hands-on exhibits. Many historic houses, gardens, and buildings are open to the public year-round or seasonally. In Baltimore, both the Science Center and the National Aquarium host hundreds of Maryland school children every year and provide stimulating and fun weekend excursions for families.
